Nick Coughlan

Nick Coughlan

Managing Director

Nick is the Managing Director of Manuka Biologicals and has been a passionate driver of the mānuka industry for the last 6 years. 

For the last 20+ years, Nick has been involved in Business through ownership and directorships of companies in a diverse range of industries including Risk Management, the Construction Industry, Property Development and as an Avocado orchardist. 

Nick has also spent 20 years working in law enforcement which included a 12 month secondment to the United Nations working in Namibia, Southern Africa as a United Nations Civilian Police Monitor.

Hein Wait

Hein Wait

Head of Operations

Hein has a (High Dip) in plantation and broadacre farming. He is an outdoors enthusiast with an agricultural background. Hein joined New Zealand Manuka Group and when their mānuka oil assets were sold to MBL in 2021 he became the operations manager.

Hein believes we lead from the ground up and as market leaders and partnering with the best stakeholders/landowners we will take the mānuka oil industry to new heights.

Hein particularly enjoys living in the Eastern Bay of Plenty where in his spare time he is usually found fishing or diving.

Tasha Carlos

Tasha Carlos

Business Development Manager

Tasha Carlos is a Business Development Manager at Manuka Bioscience with more than 9 years experience in specialty ingredients distribution and supply globally. Holds a chemistry degree and has been involved in international business within the scientific industry. She joined mānuka Bioscience to help unlock the true potential of New Zealand’s East Cape mānuka oil directed towards therapeutics and skincare formulations.

Dr Wayne Campbell

Dr Wayne Campbell

Head of technical and quality control

Wayne has a PhD in Chemistry, a trade certificate in engineering and is responsible for all of the technical, quality and production process within the company as well as being a key part of the R&D team. He has been with the Company for the past eight years and loves that we employ many locals in the community, we produce oil from often marginally economic land block and we produce a natural bioactive that demonstrates exceptional activity toward a number of common human pathogens.

He loves the breathtaking natural and often untouched landscape of the East Cape of New Zealand giving him the opportunity to pursue his favorite outdoor sports.

Dale Redpath

Dale Redpath

Genetic Plant Development

Dale is our plantation research officer focussed on plantation genetic development and improvement and gets really involved in cutting edge research questions that are important for plant health and growth. He appreciates that mānuka is a new crop, a perennial and environmentally friendly alternative for small block owners on the East Cape. He believes strongly in the potential of mānuka oil as an antimicrobial treatment for any number of skin related indications.

He loves the East Cape community and spend his spare time making biochar, growing coppiced timber and learning to grow a range of gourmet mushrooms
